Photos of the upwind leg are taken first from behind the leaders, then
from in front of them. Moore remains in the lead but Crocker passes
Maynard on this final upwind leg. Apparently Maynard had suffered a
minor grounding near the island.
In the first photo, Moore and Crocker are on opposite tacks with Moore
still a boat length or two ahead. The eighth photo shows Maynard, now
in third, close hauled and pursuing the two leaders. In a later photo
the Moores cross in front of Maynard in the photo but with Maynard a
few boat lengths back. At this point a few boat lengths separate the
three leaders. In the last few photos the gap has widened.
