This was the third race day of three race days of the Commodore Series.
0714-baby-turkeys
Two hen turkeys paid us a visit with their very young babies.
In some of the photos the belly fuzz can still be clearly seen.
The back and wing feathers are beginning to come in
but these young ones still look much more like hatchlings
than miniature turkeys.

This is the 2017 OYC Daysailer Regatta.
Nine boats participated, three from off cape.
Ted and wife Melissa Dickson took first.
Dave Penfield and sister Carol Yavetz took second.
Last year's winners Natalie Coleman-Fuller and Allison Coleman took third.
From off cape were Bob Gaffney, J P Mann, and Brian Wilson.
0718-jsp-regatta
Three days after the 2017 OYC Daysailer Regatta,
the OYC JSP held a Club 420 regatta that they called the
2017 Outer Cape Invitational Regatta.
Fourteen boats participated. Nine were from OYC.
The remaining five were from Dennis YC and Bass River YC.
Wind was light and died briefly after the first race resulting in a raft up.
The wind remained light and was a times changing direction.
0726-cp23-rudder
The CP23 rudder made by Ida Maring finally split.
This was due to water intrusion which froze during the winter
and split the blade of the rudder.
In the past Ida Marine offered to replace the rudder when damage was starting.
I declined asking that we see if the damage, at that time little more
than cosmetic, got worse or halted.
This is a few years later so I have to check to see if the offer to
replace the rudder still stands.
For now I'm using the original aluminum blade rudder.
The Ida Marine foiled rudder is a much better rudder so I hope it gets
replaced. If not I may use the aluminum rudder stock and fashion
a wood fram and fiberglass near balanced foiled rudder as
some other CP23 owners have dones.
0730-fleet15
This is the third race day of the three race day Radtke Series.
Most improved over the days was Lydia and Adele.
They started with the barber hauler too tight and were having
trouble with the strong breeze and overly curled jib shape.
Having correct this in the last race their upwind sailing greatly improved.

These photos were taken by Joe Hintz with my camera. This was the OYC
Club Championship.
0817-turkeys
The baby turkeys that hatched a month or so ago are now larger. The
hens and young ones were visiting the wood pile.
0818-kent-point
Erin and Mike and Lily came by for a visit and we took a short walk at
Kent Point in Orleans. The tenth photo had the gamma and saturation
changed to try to compensate for the backlighting and hazy day.
0823-weeks-dinghy
This is Rick and Laura's dinghy. I borrowed it and it was
waterlogged. With owners' permission I drilled holes in the flotation
chambers to let the water out (there was a lot) and then fiberglassed
over the drill holes and obvious leaks (no longer used screw holes)
and other potential leaks. I also did serious repair on the oar lock
mounts which were falling off. Rick and Laura got it back in better
shape than when they lent it out.
