The CP23 rudder made by Ida Maring finally split. This was due to water intrusion which froze during the winter and split the blade of the rudder. In the past Ida Marine offered to replace the rudder when damage was starting. I declined asking that we see if the damage, at that time little more than cosmetic, got worse or halted. This is a few years later so I have to check to see if the offer to replace the rudder still stands. For now I'm using the original aluminum blade rudder. The Ida Marine foiled rudder is a much better rudder so I hope it gets replaced. If not I may use the aluminum rudder stock and fashion a wood fram and fiberglass near balanced foiled rudder as some other CP23 owners have dones.
