1997
In 1997 Erin turned 11, Daniel turned 7, and Snowball had her first
birthday. There are only a few directories of photos recovered from
archives and these are low resolution.

older 640x480 camera. We rennovated the carriage house. Bob and Jill
stopped by. We did some kayaking on Lake Waramug. Brookfield had a
very nice Memorial Day parade. Erin went to John Hopkins for a summer

snowfalls. We got a few turkey vulture photos. The garage tool
cabinets were built. Erin went to San Francisco. Nancy, her mom, and
newborn visited. Daniel and Chris did some kayaking and rafting at
Waramug. We got more deer and woodchuck photos. Erin loved the US
Marine band. Hisano and Ayano and family did some sailing with us.
Marison, Joe, and Jacqueline visited Daniel. Ian visited later. We
got some hawk and robin's nest photos. Chris and Valerie and family
visited Daniel. A lot of photos were taken on the "big sail" to
Nantucket, Marthas Vineyard, and Block Island. Daniels scout troop
returned to Block Island. Erin took another birthday party hike.
Dormers were added to the Cape house.
2004
In 2004 Daniel turned 14 and Erin turned 18. Erin started looking at
colleges, visting Oberlin and Ithica in spring. Erin took a lot of
photos of her room and instruments. Daniel put up a bluebird house.
Brookfield's had another great Memorial Day parade. Daniel's scout
troop went to Vermont. Ian visited at the Cape again. Rick and Laura
and Leona took a fall sail with us. Frank and Sharon and Bill joined
us for a sail. Bob and Betty joined us still later. The old deck was
torn replaced. Erin and Daniel did a sax duet with Erin on the
baritone sax. We had Thanksgiving at Julia's. BHS had a Christmas
Jazz concert. Erin played at the Protugese Club Christmas party.
2005
January 2005 greeted us with 30 inches of snow at the Cape. Cindy,
Ian, and Jae visited us in Brookfield. Erin graduated BHS. Daniel
got a sunfish for his birthday and we sailed it at Lake Waramug.
Daniel's scout troop took a trip to the Virgin Islands. The year
ended with the Dec 9 storm where microbursts occurred and there was
severe tree damage, but we didn't get photos of this.
2006
We didn't take many photos in 2006. We got some good shots of the
Brookfield house in spring and of the OYC clubhouse. Joan visited at
the Cape. Erin and Kate were roommates at UDel. Erin, Daniel, Dad,
and Snowball took an after Christmas hike.
2007
In 2007 the Orleans kitchen got remodelled. The Brookfield office was
still in use. The Orleans finished part of the basement was
demolished. The Cupertino apartment became home for months at a time.
Daniel went to the prom with "other Erin". Daniel and Ian did some
sunfish sailing. We got some Cupertino and California hiking photos.
2008
In 2008 Erin visited California and did some hiking with Dad. Erin
also went to San Francisco and Monterey. Tara ended up in the
hospital in March. We started looking get rid of excess furniture at
the Cape and Brookfield houses. Daniel graduated BHS. We visited the
Mikans in July. QHC had their first annual picnic. Erin did a UDel
recital. We got some nice Quanset Pond fall shots. Thanksgiving was
at Julia's. We relocated the driveway at the Orleans house.
2009
In 2009 Erin graduated UDel and Erica graduated HS. Erin took some
hiking photos in Orleans at Fort Hill, Kendrick Woods, and Paw Wah
Pond. Erin had a job interview in New Mexico. We had a bit of a
snowstorm in December.
2010
The spring storms in 2010 did some erosion damage on Pleasant Bay. We
got good photos of the azallea and rhododendrons in Orleans. Pete and
Pat joined us for a sail. Matt had me out on his Wianno. We had a
young red tail hawk in the yard. Erin had some HS friends for a sail
with Daniel out on the sunfish. Kat and David visited just in time
for the Areys Pond 100th year anniversery cat boat races. The bird
twirlies were invented. Bill and Nancy joined us on the sailboat.
2011
For our 25th anniversay, Tara and I did a bareboat sail in BVI. Also
in 2011, Hurrican Irene visited. The new office in Orleans was
completed. Jo-Ann got her baby chainsaw.
2012
In 2012 Roy and Don joined us for diner a few times. In response to
Hurricane Irene, the super mooring pendant was built. We got good
photos or our rhodies and Tara's roses. Leslie visited. We got some
Fleet 15 racing photos. A new tiller and hatchboard were built. The
new kitchen in Brookfield was nearly completed. Tara's deck plants
were looking good. Jo-Ann and Margo visited. Jo-Ann adopted Sphinx.
Hurricane Sandy put the super mooring to the test. Sandy did some
damage but not to the boat. We had Christmas at Margie's.
2013
Home projects at Joan's and Peggy's were the big items for 2013. In
January Peggy got her new gas stove made to look like a wood stove.
In February a tree fell on our truck but only damaged the bed. Erin
was playing in Sage City Orchestra and spending her spare time with
Mike. The OYC moorings were in poor shape. The CB700sc Nighthawk
came on the scene. The first big project was Joan's raised bed
garden. Peggy's raised bed garden proved to be an even bigger job.
We took down a rotten oak tree. The first attempt at a sculling oar
was marginally successful. A turkey family started visiting. The
deck and yard plants were looking good. I ended up with an 8 week old
puppy for a week. Ron and family sailed with us though only Justin
made it into the photo collection. Tara and I went to IETF in
Vancouver. The office rackmount got rearranged. We got good
Christmas shots of Daniel, Erin and Mike, and Shannon.
2014
In 2014 Peggy celebrated her 100th birthday. Joan celebrated her 80th
birthday. The turkeys were back in winter. We built wood duck boxes
and put them in Jo-Ann's river. We got more Fleet 15 racing photos.
The deck flowers and Erin's plant did very well.
2015
2015 got off to a start with a three day blizzard that crippled the Cape.
Erin got married in June at a simple outdoor ceremony in Keene, NH.
This was on short notice so only parents and a few very close family
members attended.
We also have some Fleet 15 photos and some from the Daysailer NACR.
Finally we have photos of Bill and Nancy Moore at the Commodores Reception.
2016
Our 2016 photos open with the OYC Memorial Day kickoff.
We have photos of Fleet 15 races, mostly taken by Barry.
Photos of the Daysailer Regatta were mostly from Anton,
except the afternoon races.
We got a few of Margo and Jo-Ann's 60th birthday party.
Barry took a lot of great photos of the OYC/SYC Yankeee Duo Regatta.
2017
Throughout the year we had a lot of wild turkeys in the yard
including some baby turkeys that were still fluffy in July.
Erin and Mike started their first vegatable garden
with an ambitious 1300 square feet and 10 yards of soil.
Once again we have a lot of Fleet 15 photos.
This year the OYC JSP held a Club 420 regatta.
Over the winter the CP23 rudder got water between the halves
of the blade and this water froze and split the rudder open.
We cleaned up the Riverford house and sold it.
Erin and Mike and Lily came to visit and take a walk at Kent Point.
We took John and Judy sailing in July and a week later Rick and Laura.
2018
Daniel got a Chevy Bolt in Dec 2017 and we got photos with our Leaf.
There was major storm damage at Nauset Beach and Liams was demolished.
Once again there were a lot of Fleet 15 photos, quite a few from Anton
of the DS regatta. We also to photos of the Yankee Duo including the
now famous tie dye aprons.
Lily had a birthday party at Erin's.
2019
Spring and early summer 2019 photos were mostly gardening and yard
related, plus the OYC camera install. June and July photos included
some Fleet 15 racing and a few on Greg's boat but not taken from a
great vantage point. Our CP23 Remote Access got a late season
cleaning and launch in late August. In late season dinghy repair had
to come to a halt due to being too cold for epoxy. In November we
purchased our new to us Mariner Yachts 36 (MY36), currently still
named Ibis. A lot of late season photos were early looks at Ibis and
later the first Ibis repairs and the dinghy repairs. We got a few
better photos on Greg's boat in October.
2020
2020 is the year of covid-19 shut in. The OYC sailing didn't happen
at all, no JSP, no ASP, no racing. OYC social activity was also mostly non-existant but picked up somewhat toward end of year.
Most of the early season photos are of ongoing MY36 (formerly Ibis)
repairs. The refrigeration, water heater, and engine came out in
January. In mid February I didn't another dog sitting and rototill
visit for Mike and Erin. Rototilling at Jo-Ann and Shannon was
deferred due to frozen ground.
Most boat work was removal of old systems. The battery boxes were
built. A lot of planning went into completely replacing the
electrical system. Richardson Marine did side deck work, bottom work,
and other but just dropped the boat off in late August with work not
completed.
Erin briefly adopted a second dog.
Toward the end of the year I bought a Tesla Model Y.
2021
Quite a few of the 2021 photos are about yard work and the turkeys
that come to visit. Some transplanting, tree work, and manual stump
removal was done. Almost no boat progress was made.
2022
2022 started out being about yard work and the local citters. We had
a doves next that was unsuccessful. I got a new open (landscape)
trailer and electric log splitter. A lot of junk wood from dead trees
and long neglected would-be firewood was disposed of.
In June I began a move to Tower99 appartments in Bangor, ME. Tools
and boat stuff was put in storage in Topsham. The CB700sc was sold.
I got rid of the daysailer. The CP23 and MY36 went to Belmont
Boatworks. The CP23 has had extensive work done in 2023.
2023
The first half of 2023 was mostly about buying a house in
Belfast, packing, moving from Bangor to Belfast, cleaning the house,
getting the house a bit better furnished, and improving storage in the
garage. Tara has had the Orleans house painted and the floors
refinished. I tore out the office and so far its been painted. I
also did a fair amount of landscaping. I need to go back to garage
work soon.
The CP23 never made it to the water. Belmont Boatworks was a huge
disappointment. After promising completion of the work on the boat in
time for late spring launch the date changed to early July but kept
getting put off. In early September the boat was finally able to
leave but with some very sloppy gelcoat work that they promised to do
a later complimentary fix for. She was ready to launch but then I
noticed they didn't change the boat numbers as requested. I took the
old numbers off but it got too cold to buff the shadows so she didn't
launch at all in 2023.
From July to September the emphasis turned to outdoor work,
rennovating the in-home office, painting the house exterior trim, and
replacing decks. As of late October the back deck was not completed
due to finding rot in an inside corner of the house. The last of the
exterior painting was completed in late October on the rare warm days.
The new office is in use but needs some handles and locks on some
cabinets.
In October Daniel, Erin, and Kat and David came to visit and we did
some hiking. Erin and I also did some kayaking but no photos.
We split wood for Thanksgiving. Other than that I didn't get any
Thanksgiving photos and got a few not-very-good Christmas photos.
2024
January and the first half of February got some snow, more up north.
Sandy and I did some cross country skiing in late February but I
didn't get photos. It snowed again in March and early April. In
March we got some great snow, over a foot up north. Cross country
skiing was great and I got good photos, even with me and Sandy in the
photos.
A lot of January and February photos are food prep related and
building the 10 foot high shelf in the garage to store paints, large
fastenners and some tools. In March I installed the office cabinet
hardware. Ed continued to do interior painting. I built the framing
for a wall to mount a monitor and built a platform to make painting
above the stairs safer.
At the very end of March I started pruning the peach trees. Some
hydrangea, andromeda and a blueberry were transplanted and other work
was done in the yard in April and May. April8 was a cross country ski
day and viewing of the solar eclipse. I made a frame for under the
bed and installed Starlink. I spent nearly two weeks dog sitting for
Erin and Mike and visiting and stopped at Jo-Ann's on the way there
and back.
In June and July the focus turned to boat work plus some yard work.
Erin vacationed in Maine and Erin and I hiked Tumbledown Mountain
together. Some garden work was done at Sandy's and at Will's.
In mid July Sandy house sat and dog sat. I helped out Will for a day.
Then Sandy and I visited Jo-Ann, Margo, and Shannon and then Sandy's
brother Ralph and wife Barbara. We took no photos during that time
except a few at Will's.
Mid to late July was dominated by boat work. Early August the peach
trees started producing fruit so canning and peach cobbler became a
priority.
By the end of August the boat was in the water, but first time out the
brand new forestay broke. Belmont Boatworks tried to blame this on a
halyard wrap but I think pinching the stay when swaging was the cause.
As a result doing any real sailing was delayed by two weeks. I
decided to replace the furler while at it.
Toward the end of September was the Maine Organic Farmers and Growers
(MOFGA) Common Ground Fair. I volunteering in Will's area which was
within the aggricultural demo area. During the fair and after I got
real sick and Sandy already had a sinus infection so we were out of
commission for over a week after the fair.
On October 15 Sandy broke up with me but we are still friends.
In late October and early November Ed made progress on the deck, I did
yard work and some boat work, but didn't do any sailing. By early
November the Com-pac 23 was out of the water.
Jo-Ann hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas. While at Jo-Ann's for
Christmas, Erin, Lily, and Curtis did a few days of hikes in Topstone
Park and Mike joined for one of the hikes.
2025
Not much happened in early 2025. Very little snow until mid to late
January so XC-ski season got off to a late start. February skiing was
great but not much base was built up. It got warm and rained on and
off in early to mid March so it may be a short season. The 27"
monitor was mounted in the living room and looks great but the monitor
is too small to read recipes from the kitchen. March skiing was good
but ended too soon.
In April Sandy started renovating her kitchen. This was a big
undertaking with Sandy doing some of the work and with me helping. At
the end of April I broke down and bought an inflatable dinghy and an
ePropulsion 3HP electric motor.
