2024
January and the first half of February got some snow, more up north.
Sandy and I did some cross country skiing in late February but I
didn't get photos. It snowed again in March and early April. In
March we got some great snow, over a foot up north. Cross country
skiing was great and I got good photos, even with me and Sandy in the
photos.
A lot of January and February photos are food prep related and
building the 10 foot high shelf in the garage to store paints, large
fastenners and some tools. In March I installed the office cabinet
hardware. Ed continued to do interior painting. I built the framing
for a wall to mount a monitor and built a platform to make painting
above the stairs safer.
At the very end of March I started pruning the peach trees. Some
hydrangea, andromeda and a blueberry were transplanted and other work
was done in the yard in April and May. April8 was a cross country ski
day and viewing of the solar eclipse. I made a frame for under the
bed and installed Starlink. I spent nearly two weeks dog sitting for
Erin and Mike and visiting and stopped at Jo-Ann's on the way there
and back.
In June and July the focus turned to boat work plus some yard work.
Erin vacationed in Maine and Erin and I hiked Tumbledown Mountain
together. Some garden work was done at Sandy's and at Will's.
In mid July Sandy house sat and dog sat. I helped out Will for a day.
Then Sandy and I visited Jo-Ann, Margo, and Shannon and then Sandy's
brother Ralph and wife Barbara. We took no photos during that time
except a few at Will's.
Mid to late July was dominated by boat work. Early August the peach
trees started producing fruit so canning and peach cobbler became a
priority.
By the end of August the boat was in the water, but first time out the
brand new forestay broke. Belmont Boatworks tried to blame this on a
halyard wrap but I think pinching the stay when swaging was the cause.
As a result doing any real sailing was delayed by two weeks. I
decided to replace the furler while at it.
Toward the end of September was the Maine Organic Farmers and Growers
(MOFGA) Common Ground Fair. I volunteering in Will's area which was
within the aggricultural demo area. During the fair and after I got
real sick and Sandy already had a sinus infection so we were out of
commission for over a week after the fair.
On October 15 Sandy broke up with me but we are still friends.
In late October and early November Ed made progress on the deck, I did
yard work and some boat work, but didn't do any sailing. By early
November the Com-pac 23 was out of the water.
Jo-Ann hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas. While at Jo-Ann's for
Christmas, Erin, Lily, and Curtis did a few days of hikes in Topstone
Park and Mike joined for one of the hikes.
