Jan - Mar

0110-clean-tesla
Its almost mid January and no snow on the ground in Belfast. It got warm so I took buckets of hot water and washed the car.

0112-monitor-mounted
The 27" monitor finally got mounted in the living room. It fits well and looks good in the space that was made for it.

0113-monitor-testpage
The monitor in the living room is fine for watching youtube videos. The 27" monitor is too small for putting up recipes and reading them from the kitchen. The text is big enough from about the coffee table but fuzzy from the couch and unreadable from the kitchen. Maybe a larger monitor will go there later.

0125-xc-ski
It is almost the end of January and we had some significant snow. Skiing season is underway. This was a nice blue sky photo from Vista.

0127-greek-pasta-salad
I tried a new vegan greek pasta salad and it came out great. Some brands of vegan feta are better than others. Violife seems to have the best flavor.

0127-pole-tree-trim
A tree crew came by and gave a heavy trim to the trees on one side of the neighbor's phone pole. I later found out the power company was putting in a new pole so that is why the radical trim. The view improved for a few weeks.

0128-vegan-grilled-cheese
I tried a vegan grilled cheese recipe with tomato and spinach. It was good but fried so messy to make due to the frying. So far it hasn't worked well in the toaster oven. This was a really good organic sourdough bread from Belfast Market and that made a difference.

0205-vegan-stuffed-mushrooms
I found some good vegan blue cheese and tried a vegan bacon flakes recipe. The bacon flakes taste more like coconut flakes, the main ingredient but give a bacon like taste as an ingredient. The result was some good vegen stuffed mushrooms. I need more vegan appetizer recipes.

0210-shoveled-snow
After the first few snows the snow piles near the driveway and deck were starting to get large. Shoveling the deck is time consuming.

0211-vegan-salads
I made three vegan salads. The first is greek pasta salad. Second is kale, quinoa, and artichoke salad. The last is asparagus, potato and lentil salad (with plenty of fresh dill). They are all very good.

0214-xc-ski-route
After a few days of mid February snow quite a few of the trails were untracked since the snowfall. Oh My Gosh and West Branch are in the first few photos and Vista is in the last though there were some tracks there.

0215-kitchen-mess
After a late night making a double batch of tofu teriyaki the kitchen was quite a mess, so I took a photo. I think that night I had made gochujang stew, then cleaned up, then made tofu teriyaki and it was very late so I just left it for the next morning.

0217-drifty-snow
We had snow with strong winds so drifty snow. It was deep on the east side of the house so the deck had lots of snow. It also fell late so I didn't finish shoveling the driveway. Next day there was almost no snow on the west side of the truck and west of the big snow mound by the driveway due to the direction of the wind but drifts near anything east facing.

0219-deep-snow-piles
More snow fell and now there were tall piles of snow on either side of the driveway and large mounds near the deck. The highs for the day were below freezing for most days over a period of two weeks or more.

0220-power-line-break
The crew came by to install a new pole at the neighbors. They managed to drill through the underground power lines. The ground was frozen but with a big enough backhoe they were able to dig down to make the repair. The next day they redrilled and installed the pole.

0220-sprouting-onion
This yellow onion had sprouted and was doing its best to try to grow on the kitchen counter.

0224-xc-ski-route
Ski conditions were great. On the way up I took some photos of the trails with trail marker signs. The time stamps are helpful to know how long it takes to do various sections. Oh My Gosh rotary at 11:46, up West Branch to Inferno at 12:08 (so 22 min), intersection with V2 at 12:18 (so 10 min), intersection with Vista at 12:27 (so 9 min). From Oh My Gosh rotary to top of Vista was 41 minutes. One more photo was taken part way down Vista.

0226-xc-ski-route
Two days after timing Oh My Gosh rotary to top of Vista at 41 minutes I took some more photos starting at Top of Vista. Top of Vista was 12:09. Vist met Seven Bridges at 12:17 (so 8 minutes). Seven Bridges met Fifty Cents at 12:21 (so 4 min but mostly to stop for photos). Fifty Cents turns to Fifty. Fifty intersected with V2 at 13:43 (so 1 hour 22 min to complete Fifty Cents and Fifty). Another 3 minutes along Fifty from V2 intersection to Seven Bridges. Down at the base the temperature was 36 at 14:06 (so another 20 min). This part was just under 2 hours, most of the time on Fifty.

0314-xc-ski-up-vista
The prior ski photos were of the figure eight along Snowbrook, up Oh My Gosh, up West Branch, along Inferno, then part of V2, down Vista meeting Seven Bridges, along Fifty Cents, then the hardest part up and down Fifty, then back to Seven Bridges to Warming Hut trail, then to the base. This time the loop was extended. After going down Fifty, up Vista, along V2 and Inferno, down East Branch and back on Snowbrook to the base.
The first two photos are at the top of Vista. The next two are going up Vista which has a different view. In this direction the alpine ski area can be seen.

0318-enchiladas
Yet another batch of enchiladas. This one with vegan mexican cheese.
